As a new pipe smoker , i have good feelings when smoking this tobacco. I have just emptied my first tin of it and i would say “No bites at all”. The caramel and fruity aromas definitly made others to turn they heads and ask what i was smoking and feeled pleased with the smell(exept my wife). Its so sweet as the name and tends to be a litle strong in the end. I have tried aromatics and non-aromatics and i have decided: i will stay with aromatics forever. there will be people who will disagree with my opinion but hey, it makes me happy and nothing wlse matters.
This pipe tobacco all i can say is wow. Just wow. Honesty, where do I begin. Once in the tin you get a mixed smell of citrus, fruits, honey and it all comes together to smell like Christmas pudding. I couldn’t believe it to the point I asked my family what they thought it smelt like and they all said oohhh “Christmas pud”. The texture of the tobacco is light, almost fluffy, lots of different colours being a mix of Cavendish’s.once packed you light up and the room is filled with the same notes that’s in the tin. Same as the tongue, now alot of you pipe smokers will agree that you usually find the taste isn’t quite the same as the smell in the tin. Well my pipe smoking friends this is, this tastes just the same as it smells. It’s a fantastic tobacco that I will be ordering again. I’m not sure why I have not tried peterson pipe tobaccos sooner, all I can say is. If there all like this one then they should start selling it in supermarkets, corner shops. Somewhere it’s easy to get hold of. I will be ordering a few tins for the Christmas holidays that’s for sure.
This was my first ever pipe tobacco. Now I’m pretty advanced on the palate for aromatics and I can attest this one improves during the smoke, particularly the second half. Notes of vanilla and toasted cracker up front, ore whiskey sweetness. Not too bad, really, and the flavors are very mild. Has a bit of a “kick” of tobacco nicotine strength more than normal.
Even after smoking a pipe for over 40 years, I still look for the illusive perfect blend. I do prefer aromatics, but find many of them quite lacking. I got a tin of Sweet Killarney when I bought a new Peterson pipe from Smoking Pipes.
I think it has a pleasant taste, nearly zero tongue bite, and almost no aftertaste
I was surprised to see so many negative reviews for the Peterson Sweet Killarney. There are many other blends that when I awake the next morning, it tastes like rodents marched through my mouth during the night.
It does seem to have a bit of a nicotene hit, which I don’t care for. But, in my GBD Dublin, which is rather small, it smoked for 1hr 15min. Perhaps that’s why the N hit. Perhaps half a bowl will be sufficient.
All in all, I find it a pleasant tin of tobacco. I will try another, and see if it varies from tin to tin. It could be that I got one of the good ones, not to be repeated.
Why so many people hate it?
This was one of the first tins I purchased, and I was attracted by the Caramel flavour. The tin aroma is awesome, simply awesome. Once lit, the tobacco provides a nice aroma, although the heavy casing tends to make this tobacco burn hot quickly. So, be careful with your draws. Honestly, I find there are other tobaccos which are worse than this, so. if you are an aromatic guy, you might consider purchasing this!
